In a game you may not have known was happening earlier Thursday, Daniel Norris, the MLB Game Score Belt defender, squared off against the Tampa Bay Rays and starting pitcher Erasmo Ramírez. It wasn’t a great day for pitching, at least for the defender, and in the end, the Belt exchanged hands.
Ramírez’ Game Score of 62 (5 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K) was more than enough to win the Belt from Norris’ Game Score of 37 (4.2 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 K).
The Rays won 8–1 in the early game at Tropicana Field, led by Steven Souza, Jr., who finished a single away from the cycle.
It looks like Ramírez’ next start comes against the Baltimore Orioles, which should be an exciting game if you’re a fan of pitchers getting clobbered.
