In a matchup between Alex Cobb and Rick Porcello, two pitchers who have both owned the Belt and one point or another, Cobb came out on top.
His Game Score of 57 was more than enough to keep the Belt from Rick Porcello (Game Score of 44). Cobb went six and one-third innings, allowing four hits, three earned runs, walking three and striking out five. Porcello, on the other hand, went six innings, allowing nine hits, three earned runs, striking out seven, and allowing a homer to Evan Longoria.
The Rays won 5–4, improving to 18–20 on the year, while Boston fell to 18–17.
Cobb’s next start comes against Cleveland, and if all stays the same in their rotation, it will be against Josh Tomlin.
