Tyler Skaggs, Gone Too Soon

The Los Angeles Angels announced on Monday afternoon that Tyler Skaggs, a 27 year old left handed pitcher, had passed away that morning in Texas. The Angels were due to begin a 4 game set against the Rangers, in which Skaggs would have been slated to pitch on Thursday. Monday’s game has been postponed.

Skaggs, who would have turned 28 on July 13, was in his 5th year with the team that originally drafted him. He had pitched to a 4.29 ERA in 15 starts this season, and was one of the most well liked Angels by both teammates and fans alike. Skaggs had just gotten married this past offseason. The Diamond Digest community joins the rest of the baseball world in extending its condolences to the Skaggs family as it deals with this unimaginable loss.
