The Oakland A’s sprung a trade for Cincinnati starter Tanner Roark, just 90 minutes ahead of Wednesday’s 4 P.M. trade deadline. The Athletics will send 21 year old CF prospect Jameson Hannah to the Reds in the deal.
In 21 starts this year, Roark is 6-7 with an 4.24 ERA and a WHIP of 1.42. Roark currently has a career low GB%, which could be an outlier from his struggles so far this year. He should see a bit of improvement moving from Great American Ballpark to the Coliseum in Oakland.
Roark will be a free agent at the end of the 2019 season, but adds some needed depth to the A’s rotation as they head down the home stretch
