The Parrot is now flying on the South Side!
Last night, it was reported that the White Sox signed slugging DH Edwin Encarnacion to a one-year, $12 million deal with a club option for 2021. The report first came out from Dominican Reporter Yancen Pujols.

Encarnacion will finally be the DH the White Sox have been trying to find since Paul Konerko. The production for White Sox’ DH’s was historical bad last season, posting a slash line of just .197/.275/.342. Encarnacion also adds to the large increase in power production the White Sox have added for 2020.
The White Sox’ lack of production from the DH is clearly well-known, and Edwin should definitely fill that void very well for the Sox in 2020. Encarnacion has hit 30+ home runs in every season since 2012.
With the Encarnacion signing, this will probably mean the White Sox look to shop catchers Zack Collins and/or James McCann, with McCann currently projected as the backup catcher for the 2020 White Sox.
