San Francisco Giants Unveil New 2021 Nike MLB City Connect Jersey

In addition to the current traditional white home, road grey, black home, and orange home jerseys already in their uniform rotation, this morning, the San Francisco Giants announced their Nike City Connect jersey, the sixth jersey released by Nike as part of their 2021 Nike MLB City Connect Series.

This primarily white jersey features orange nameplates, a ‘G’ on the left side of the chest which fades into a dense fog, and a depiction of the Golden Gate Bridge on the sleeves also fading into a fog. The bridge is also featured on the new orange hat that is part of the uniform.

On the new jerseys, Mario Alioto, the Giants’ executive vice president of business operations, said in a statement that, “We are excited to partner with Nike on this collaborative jersey series, which will further show, through this unique work, what a special and unique place San Francisco is to so many who live here and visit… The imagery of the Golden Gate Bridge and our summertime fog connects our player, our fans, and our community to this amazing city.”

On their twitter, the Giants elaborated on the symbolism and design of the jersey, writing that, “This jersey represents what we’ve always known about San Francisco, that there’s more to us than meets the eye. The vibrant colors of the jersey echo the city’s energetic drive to work hard and stand out. On the chest a bold ‘G’ rises from the fog, symbolizing our pride and unmatched passion for baseball. Our iconic bridge spans the sleeves and a mysterious ‘SF’ floats above the jock tag. This collection embodies everything beyond that thick marine layer, the hidden treasure that is San Francisco.”

The Giants will showcase this jersey for the first time on Friday, July 9, a home game against the Washington Nationals. The new jersey will also be worn for all Tuesday home games for the remainder of the season. The last 2021 Nike MLB City Connect jersey to be announced this season is the Los Angeles Dodgers jersey, which will debut on the field on Wednesday, August 18, the final game of a three game home series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
