One of our purposes in creating Diamond Digest was to give young, aspiring baseball journalists, analysts, broadcasters, etc., a platform to show their skills and advance in their desired industry. Our website and media platforms have given many a place to develop their skills and learn more about working in sports. Many that have worked on this site now work in credentialed media, finance, analytics, and more, and some work for MLB organizations (including our founder, Jeremy Frank).

We want to highlight those achievements on this page. With hard work and dedication, you can also jumpstart your dream career with Diamond Digest!

Here from those that work in…

Sports Analytics

Diamond Digest gave me a space to share some of my first, raw thoughts in baseball analytics, and I’ll always be grateful for that.

Ajay Patel, Junior Data Scientist at Pittsburgh Pirates

Diamond Digest was an extremely welcoming group that gave me a platform to publish baseball articles at a very young age. The smart, passionate, and driven other members of DD motivated me to produce quality content, and I learned a lot both from them and my own research along the way.

I also enjoyed getting to know some members of the group “off the field,” and very much appreciated the tightly-knit community that was fostered by the leadership group. I would strongly encourage anyone interested in a career in baseball operations or media to get involved with this group.

Zorian Schiffman, Coordinator – International Scouting for Milwaukee Brewers

Provided me my first taste of life in the baseball industry. Helped understand how those in industry communicate about both work and the game in general. Gave me the confidence that I belong in the industry.

Matt O’Halloran, Major League Baseball

Diamond Digest helped me find a place within the online sports community and improve my writing, allowing me to take the next steps in my career.

Sports Media

Diamond Digest was one of the main reasons for me getting the career that I now have. Throughout the interview process, the people in charge of hiring were very impressed with the dedication it takes to commit to a consistent social media presence for a growing brand. Not only that, but DD having a multitude of other outlets for me to express myself in (writing, editing, graphics, general content creation, etc.) became a great platform to showcase many different kinds of skills. Diamond Digest will allow you the freedom to work in a variety of areas to create a wide-ranging portfolio of various different things to have tangible examples of your work. I also credit a lot of the interpersonal skills I’ve learned to my time at DD. The creative atmosphere along with entertaining and insightful chats both about sports, and about life, were great building blocks for how to work within a team environment to create the best collective space for everyone to succeed. I 100% would not have the career that I do today without the work I did at Diamond Digest, and all the opportunities I was given there.

John Principe, Social Media Editor at theScore & ESPNBET

Diamond Digest gave me an encouraging space to think critically, esoterically and sentimentally about baseball. It enriched how I watched the game, helped me build a valuable network of friends and acquaintances, and pointed me in the direction of the digital-friendly approach I wanted to take to writing long-term. On a more personal level, the site was a necessary, patient anchor during a turbulent transition from high school to college. I’d be nowhere without it.

Patrick Andres, Breaking and Trending News Writer at Sports Illustrated

Looked fantastic on my résumé. Was the first real writing opportunity I was accepted to do. I’m a college dropout without a journalism degree (or degree period). Thanks to my work from Diamond Digest and others, I was able to showcase a portfolio of sports writing and land a job at a newspaper despite a lack of a degree. DD is a fantastic place to build a body of work and improve your writing/media skills, while also being able to cover your favorite team. The site also is full of remarkable people that uplift each other and view someone leaving to bigger things as a positive. Extremely supportive and forever my family.

Scott Bentley, Podcast Host at Locked On Podcast Network (Tigers / Red Wings) / Sports Writer & Journalist at C&G Newspapers in Metro Detroit

Diamond Digest gave me a platform to get reps in analytical baseball writing at a time when I desperately needed it. I was only a couple years into evaluating baseball at a deeper level and I needed somewhere time do document my preliminary understandings of sites like Fangraphs at Baseball Savant. Throughout my time at Diamond Digest, I experienced exponential growth in the quality and originality of my writing. The people leading the way at DD allowed me to take these necessary strides.

Daniel Curren, Contributing Writer at Just Baseball

It helped me get some of my first experience doing something professional in regards to baseball and also give me connections to people who work/will work in the same industry.

Ryan Drisoll, Data Operations at MLB / Research Intern at Foul Territory

Diamond Digest gave me my first introduction to graphic design within the sports media landscape. Becoming involved in the site created opportunities for me to work on real design briefs, collaborating with the wider editorial team. These projects helped me improve as a designer, build out my portfolio, and gave me a platform to showcase my work to a wider audience online. Through my involvement with Diamond Digest, I went from having no professional design experience to now working full time as a graphic designer for a major sports team.
